Julie Foley

Julie was born in Louisville with horses on both sides of the family. Julie started riding at a very young age thanks to her Aunt Martha. Julie contributes much of her success as a rider and an instructor to spending twenty five years under her aunt, Martha Lambert. Julie also has another aunt that rides and trains saddlebreds competitively, but Julies heart was in the 3-day eventers! Growing up Julie participated in Pony Club through C-3 and competed in all the rallies. Julie also worked around polo ponies and was an asst trainer on the racetrack for four years. Julie enjoys finding Thoroughbreds off the racetrack, re-training and introducing them to eventing.

Julie has been an assistant instructor for Martha Lambert for sixteen years. Over the years she has been fortunate enough to ride with some of the nation’s best: Stephen Bradley, Jimmy Wofford, Leslie Law, Jan Bynny, Buck Davidson, Eric Dierks, Alex Gerding, Dorothy Crowell, and Jen and Jonathon Holling. In her own instruction, Julie stresses the importance of a strong foundation to beginning riders.
Julie currently has three horses of her own in training, all off the track that she has started herself and brought up the levels. 2012 looks to be exciting, the filly will begin her show career, Sam will move to training and River will be shooting for a one-star in May. Julies other huge passion when not riding is rescuing and fostering abused and abandoned dogs. She has 4 dogs of her own, (all rescues) and 2 fosters. Julie also helps her boyfriend operate and manage their own broodmare farm where they breed and raise Thoroughbreds to race and sell.
